Miss America's Outstanding Teen Program
Age/Education Eligibility RulesAge/Education Eligibility Rules Chart for 2016 Miss America’s Outstanding Teen State and Local Pageants
This Age/Education Eligibility Chart is for 2016 Local and State Pageants that lead up to the crowning of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen 2017 that will be held in July/August 2016.
Although additional eligibility rules exist with which contestants must comply, the table below is designed to assist with determining the eligibility for a contestant to compete in a Miss America’s Outstanding Teen State or Local Pageant, based upon the Age/Education eligibility rules of the Miss America and Miss America’s Outstanding Teen organizations:
(1) Eligible if the contestant reaches 13 years of age by the first day of the 2016 Miss State’s Outstanding Teen competition.
(2) This chart represents eligibility based on a potential contestant’s Age and Education. There are other eligibility requirements and rules including: Residency, Citizenship, Other Personal Characteristics, Contractual and Other Obligations, and any special requirements of the Local or State Organization. Refer to the current MAOTeen Application and Contract for Local and State Pageants for more detailed requirements.
(3) The last day that a local Miss pageant may be conducted in the State.
(4) In this case the contestant could also be a high school graduate or have received her G.E.D.
(5) In this case the contestant must graduate from high school or receive her G.E.D. by the end of the Spring 2016 school year.
COMPETITION PERCENTAGES
Talent (35%), Private Interview (35%), Evening Wear (15%), Lifestyle & Fitness (10%), On-stage Question (5%), and Final Ballot.
Presentation in Interview (35%)
1. Interview times will be changed on all levels.
Beginning with 2010 Local: 6-Minutes
Beginning with 2010 State: 8-Minuutes
Beginning with August 2010 National: 9-Minutes
2. Questions will come from a variety of areas, including but not limited to the contestant’s application and fact sheet, moral/ethical issues, current events, etc. Contestants should be prepared to answer any type of question asked.
Lifestyle and Fitness in Fitness Outfit (10%)

Lifestyle and Fitness in Fitness Outfit (10%)
- Contestant may select a one or two-piece fitness outfit. Modesty and decency should be appropriate guidelines when selecting fitness outfits. If in doubt as to whether or not the Contestant’s fitness outfit is acceptable, you may, at your option, send a picture to the Pageant for review (front, side and back photo).
- Contestant’s talent must not be longer than 2 minutes. Must be in the form of a CD accompaniment.
- “Live” accompaniment is not permitted. Only the contestant is permitted on-stage. No other person may be a part of her presentation.
- Talent must be performed live.
Presence and Poise in Evening Wear (15%)
Contestant should wear age appropriate attire that makes her feel beautiful and special.
Age appropriate full-length gowns or full-length pantsuits are appropriate. Shorter attire may be worn, but must be age appropriate and non-revealing when worn on a stage.
On-Stage Question (5%)
Each contestant’s question will be drawn on stage and will be random pop culture questions.
